Components
Add, order, and group components on your status dashboard.
Each status dashboard shows a subset of your organization's components in the order you choose. Use the Components tab to decide which services appear on this page and how they are grouped for visitors.
Dashboard scope
The Components section controls which of your organization's components appear on this dashboard and in what order. Components are managed globally in the Components section — this section controls their presence and order on this specific dashboard only.
Every public section on this dashboard — active incidents, maintenance lists, event history, weekly activity, uptime bars, and event permalinks at /event/{id} — only includes events that affect at least one component currently on this dashboard.
Removing or unwiring a component here does not delete events in admin. Those events may stop appearing on this dashboard's public page, including in history and permalinks, if nothing else on the dashboard still overlaps the event's affected components.
Adding components
Select any of your organization's components from the list to include them on this dashboard. The same component can appear on multiple dashboards with independent display orders.
Display order
Components appear on status dashboards in the order you set here. Reorder them at any time — changes take effect after saving.
Compact mode
Compact mode reduces the vertical spacing between components. Useful for dashboards with a large number of components. Toggle it on or off in the Components section.
Component groups
Enable component groups to visually organize components under named headers on the public page — for example, Infrastructure, APIs, or Integrations.
Enabling groups
Toggle Enable component groups on. When disabled, all components appear in a single flat list.
Creating a group
- Click Add group.
- Enter a name (up to 50 characters).
- Click the pencil icon on the group row to add an optional description (up to 150 characters).
Descriptions are shown on the public status dashboard directly under the group name in the group header. Leave the description blank if the group name is enough on its own.
Expand groups by default
When component groups are enabled, the Expand groups by default toggle controls the initial state for all named groups on the public page:
- On — every named group starts expanded when a visitor first loads the page. Visitors can still collapse any group by clicking its header.
- Off — every named group starts collapsed. Visitors expand the groups they want to see.
This is a single dashboard-wide setting — individual groups do not have their own expand or collapse default.
Components not assigned to a group appear under Ungrouped Components. That section always starts collapsed on initial load, regardless of the expand setting.
Group order
Groups appear on the public page in the order you arrange them. Reorder them at any time — changes take effect after saving.
Assigning components to groups
Each component can be assigned to one group per dashboard. Components not assigned to a group appear ungrouped.
Removing a group
Deleting a group does not remove its components from the dashboard — those components move to the ungrouped list.
Removing or unwiring components
When you remove a component from this dashboard (or delete it organization-wide), events in admin are unchanged — but this dashboard's public view is scoped to current membership.
Past incidents, maintenance, informational notices, weekly activity days, uptime bars, and permalinks on this dashboard only show events that still overlap at least one component currently wired here. If you remove the only overlapping component, those entries disappear from this dashboard's public page and /event/{id} links for that dashboard may return not found, even though the event remains in admin.
To show historical events again on this dashboard, re-add a component that the event affects, or edit the event's affected components in admin.
