Use an informational event for announcements and notices that do not change component status on status dashboards, such as product updates or release notes. You still select components for notification routing, but there is no workflow, timeline, or severity.

Overview

An informational event is a general notice that does not affect service status. Informational events:

  • Have no workflow lifecycle and no timeline
  • Have no start or end time
  • Require at least one component
  • Are used for announcements, release notes, or any communication that does not trigger component status changes
  • Do not support Impact Analysis (that field is available on incidents and maintenance only)

Use an informational event when you want to communicate something to users without affecting any service status indicators.

Adding components to an informational notice tells StatusDashboard which component subscribers should receive the notification. It does not change the component's operational status on the dashboard — status is only affected by incidents and maintenance events.
