# Informational Notices

Publish announcements without changing component status.

Informational notices publish announcements that do not change component status. Use them for policy updates or advisories that should stay visible until you unpublish them.

## How informational notices work
The **Informational Notices** module displays published announcements — policy updates, general advisories, or other messages that are not incidents or maintenance windows.

Use this module when you want visitors to see a notice **without changing component status** on the dashboard. Informational notices are not operational events: they have no workflow phases, no timeline, and no start or end time.

Informational notices are managed with a simple **publish / unpublish** lifecycle:

* **Publish** when the notice should appear on the status dashboard.
* **Unpublish** when the information is no longer valid or you no longer want it shown.

There is no automatic expiry. A published notice stays visible until someone unpublishes it. The **posted** time shown on each notice is when the event was created — not a scheduled start or end window.

## What visitors see
When enabled, a section titled **Informational Notices** appears on your status dashboard. Each notice shows its title, description, and when it was posted.

Notices are sorted **most recently posted first**.

If a notice references specific components, visitors see a **Related to** tag list for those components. **Component status indicators are not changed** by informational notices — they are display-only context.

## Which notices appear
A notice is included only when all of the following are true:

* It is **published** to the status dashboard.
* It references **at least one component currently configured** on this dashboard (for visibility on this dashboard and subscriber notification routing).

See [Dashboard scope](/docs/status-dashboards/components#dashboard-scope) if you reorganize components and notices disappear from this page.

The dashboard shows an initial batch of notices. If more exist, visitors can click **Load more** to see additional entries.

## How this relates to other modules
Informational notices appear **only** in this module while they are published. They are intentionally excluded from other dashboard sections:

| Module | Informational notices |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Informational Notices** (this module) | Shown while published |
| [Weekly Activity](/docs/status-dashboards/content/weekly-activity) | Not included — the chart tracks incident and maintenance activity only |
| [Event History](/docs/status-dashboards/content/event-history) | Not included — history lists resolved incidents and completed maintenance |

Visitors who need the full text of a notice can open its permalink at `/event/{id}`. A permalink works while the notice is **published** and at least one of its referenced components is **still on this dashboard**. Unpublishing removes the notice from dashboard lists; removing those components from this dashboard can make the permalink return not found on this page.

## When the section is hidden
If the module is enabled but no published notices reference this dashboard's components, the section does not appear.

If the module is turned off in the Content tab, the section is never shown. Informational notices are **on by default** on new dashboards.
